Why 5+ A Day? - Nutrition and Health
Most of us are aware that eating fruit and vegetables are important for a healthy diet. The science behind the health benefits of eating fruit and vegetables is growing stronger.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO) it is recommended to consume a minimum of 400g (about five handfuls) of fruit and vegetables per day (excluding potatoes and other starchy tubers) for the prevention of chronic diseases such as heart disease, cancer, diabetes and obesity.
