History

Grapefruit was originally bred in Barbados as a hybrid of the pomelo fruit with the sweet orange. It was first introduced to New Zealand in the mid 1800’s from Australia.

  • Grapefruit trees can grow up to 10 metres tall
  • Grapefruit like to grow in subtropical climates and some varieties grow well in the northern parts of New Zealand
