Nashi Pear Chutney

Serves: 3.5 litres

Preparation: 10 minutes

Cooking: 2 hours



1.5kg ripe nashi pears, cored and cut into small pieces
1 brown onion, finely chopped
500g pitted dates, finely chopped
500g sultanas
250g brown sugar
1 ½ tablespoons salt
½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
½ teaspoon chilli powder
5 cups malt vinegar



Combine all the ingredients in a large saucepan

Boil very gently for 2 hours, stirring to ensure the chutney does not stick, until the chutney thickens

Pour into hot jars and seal
